Police Lt. Michael Torey say the boy entered the home about 10 a.m. Monday. Torey tells The Detroit News that the commotion woke the homeowner, who grabbed a shotgun and confronted the knife-holding teen.
Torey says the homeowner fired one shot, which struck the teen in the leg. The lieutenant says the youth jumped out the window and collapsed in the back yard.
Torey says the teen died at a hospital.
The lieutenant says so far, it appears the shooting was justifiable. The teen’s name was immediately released.
